I was thinking of signing up for stikk.com, where you make goals and then if you don't fulfill them, you have to give money to a charity you hate. It's a sound economic concept, and I think it would actually work pretty well for me, but you have to have a referee and I don't really have anyone I trust to do that for me around here. My uncle did that once! I forgot what he had to give up, but if he failed, he had to give money to the NRA. He only slipped up once, the self-loathing kept him from doing it again.

NRA is a good choice. That organization that is fighting to defend Prop 8 would also be a good choice. I hate them a lot.

That's such a fun idea. Artificial willpower is cool.

My mental picture of someone who hates Freedom to Marry and struggles with "looking at porn" is a really sad one. Self-hatred is definitely in there somewhere.

Well, that's the point. You have to stop eating chocolate or quit smoking or exercise 3 times a week or your referee will give your money to the cause you hate. It's a good motivator.
