My uncle did that once! I forgot what he had to give up, but if he failed, he had to give money to the NRA. He only slipped up once, the self-loathing kept him from doing it again.

Well, that's the point. You have to stop eating chocolate or quit smoking or exercise 3 times a week or your referee will give your money to the cause you hate. It's a good motivator.
