I hate it when someone asks for advice/opinion/experience on an issue and you chime in and end up revealing some personal thing about yourself that you already know is weird but you mentioned it in order to reassure them about the related thing they were worried about in the first place but then after you reveal that personal thing, they don't ( Read more... )

Oh, I hate that as well. Makes me feel like a bit of an idjit for having said something in the first place.

Though, in the privacy of the internet, I will admit to being a bad person. I have one friend that I sort of do that to on purpose. She has the "one-up" mentality. If you tell her a trouble, she has to tell you why hers are worse. Of course, she does it in the guise of "empathisizing," though often they aren't even related ("I got a speeding ticket today, I'm a bit stressed on how to pay it." "Yeah, well my cat died last week, so I know what you mean about being stress." WTF?)

And I know and in this case it makes me feel like going, well why'd you ask if anybody had any knowledge/experience with that if it would be weird for you to know they did?? Oh well.

isla! :D I have been in self-exile from livejournal for weeks since I hadn't read the latest HP book so I just saw this post. Just so you know I wasn't ignoring you. ;)
