"Fate, perhaps," he asked with a sparkle in his eyes.
"I do not believe in fate, sir," she replied, elegance in every syllable.
"Then it's luck that brought me all the way to this place?" he asked, waving a hand in the air. She watched the ground as they walked, smiling to herself as they moved through the tall grass.
Stopping, she turned toward him. "What is your name?" she asked, eyes narrowed. They'd been playing this back-and-forth for a while now. As a smile spread across his face, he looked away, focusing on a distant peak.
"What is yours?" he countered. An entire week, he'd been in the Zone. And they had yet to share something so simple. They'd shared everything else, almost too much, some might say. But never this.
"As the future Queen, I demand you tell me your name." Purple eyes locked on steel-blue.
"And I decline," he said simply. "Respectfully," he added with a polite nod.
"Did you just tell me 'No'?" she asked with a slight gasp.
"Yes, ma'am, I believe I did," he said, raising his eyebrows slightly.
"Well, aren't you the first..."
