The Outer Zone soon became accustomed to the oddities of the royal family, particularly those relating to the youngest member of the family. The sudden regime change confused most of them - not that most of the residents of Central City were all there, with all the Vapors available - but the people were fairly accommodating when it came to the return of the Queen and the not-quite-so dead Princess DG.

When she appeared on the streets of Central City one afternoon, without an escort, she wasn't hounded - mostly because no one knew who she was - and everyone just treated her as some outlander, in the big city for the first time and terribly lost.

She liked it that way, everyone soon found out. The residents of Central City didn't mind, either; they rather enjoyed her visits to the city once they learned who she was. She would walk down the street in pants - PANTS - and ignore the whispers of the well-to-do ladies, shocked that she would be seen in public in men's clothes, regardless of her lineage.

She stopped into the various stores and spoke with the owners and shoppers, asking about their day, remembering a mention of a sick child, and commenting on the weather. To most of the city, she was just a friendly, young girl who made time for everyone.

She told many of them, on multiple occasions, that she wanted to know everything about this place she was from. She didn't remember it and figured the best way to reconnect was to experience things. One of her favorite places to experience the Zone was the cafe in Central City's center square. She really liked the pie.

One afternoon, while DG was in the cafe, enjoying her pie -- she found that while she never cared for berry-anything in Kansas - except for the strawberry pie at the Hilltop - the Zone equivalent of blackberries weren't so bad. It probably helped that no one called them blackberries, either -- everyone's attention went to the doorway as a body tumbled in.

DG glanced up, fork in her mouth, and rolled her eyes as she watched another body enter behind the first. Turning back to the plate, DG chewed on the piece of pie in her mouth and poked at the plate with her fork.

"See!" she heard from across the small space. "I told you I knew where she was," Glitch said, pointing to DG. Wyatt Cain grumbled and scanned the room as Glitch moved through the sea of tables to the counter. The folks who were in the cafe got over the intrusion and went back to their plates and conversations.

"Oh, I love bramble pie," Glitch said, looking at DG's plate like he hadn't eaten in years. Pulling the plate toward himself, he snatched the fork from DG's hand and proceeded to eat half the remaining pie in one bite. Cain did have to laugh at the look on her face, but he was still angry.

"I thought we talked about you skippin' out without telling anyone where you were going," he said, standing behind the both of them, trying to look imposing.

"I told someone," DG motioned to Glitch.

"Ann I tole oo, I new-" Glitch swallowed and winced at the bitterness of one of the berries. "-that I knew where she was," he finished with a huff. "I'm not completely brainless," he added quietly, making a face and directing it to the plate.

DG breathed a laugh and waved to the empty seat next to her. "Sit, Cain. Have some pie." She waved to the old man who owned the cafe and held up three fingers as Cain sat down with a huff.

"Only have two slices left, dear. Unless someone wants bilberry." DG smirked and glanced at Cain, who had a locked jaw and blinked once. DG reached up to pull Cain's hat from his head and set in on her knee.

"Bad manners to wear your hat indoors, Mister Cain," she said with a nod at the look of utter contempt on his face. The old man moved over to the three of them and presented three plates. Glitch snatched one of the slices of bramble pie immediately and started devouring it while DG pushed the slice of bilberry toward Cain.

Taking the forks offered by the old man, DG gave him a nod and turned to Cain. Holding up a fork, she gave Cain a smirk. "Hope you like blueberry."
