"What?" Alexander reached over to turn down the blaring heavy metal that he had purposefully kept playing throughout the drive to the next borough. It left a convenient excuse not to talk, for her, since she seemed like that was the last thing she wanted to do. He couldn't blame her for that too much, part of him feeling slight disappointment in her reaction to the news.

"If I get drunk?" he asked, guessing on the last word he managed to hear, "Call for a driver."

"Obviously," she rolled her eyes. "Sometimes I forget you're the hotshot lawyer." Which wasn't exactly a compliment, she realized, although she might've meant it as such. Tact wasn't with her just then. She was more concerned with other facts, like how many more people like him she'd met without knowing it.

Tom had been waiting, sitting around in his living room had left him open to another unpleasant conversation. He'd make it up to Erica, he always did. Jumping up as Alex's car slowed in front of his townhouse, he pulled open the door and slid into the backseat.

"So, ready to get pissed?"

"Completely." Alexander answered while he steered the car back to the street. "Tom, by the way, I told her."

"Thanks, genius." Tom rolled his eyes at the news, pushing himself farther back into his seat. He knew there were better ways of springs that news on people and he was pretty certain that Alex's method was far from one of them. "So, how're you taking it, Gia? Shocked? Appalled? Murderous? All of the above?"
