Candice didn't wait in the car for the call; if Bennet and her own failures had taught her something, it was to have a contingency plan ready just in case. She made it up the stairs in record time, half expecting to see a bloody mess on the floor rather than a successful capture.

Carmen surprised her.

"So you can do the job," she smiled, taking Carmen's gun and unloading the remaining charge. No need of it right now and if Steve got away, keeping a fully loaded gun would so much easier be turned against them.

His vitals were good and he very nearly groaned when Carmen kicked his side. Candice didn't bother stopping her. If anything, he'd wake up quicker.

"Come on, let's get him up in that chair. He won't be down for long."

Unfortunately, being super-powered kick-ass women with guns didn't exactly lend them any help in the strength department, making lifting a two hundred something pound unconscious man a bit of a struggle, but between both of them, they managed it.

"So," Carmen said conversationally, panting a little. "Interogation?"

"Interrogation," Candice beamed, giving no outward sign of effort. "He got out before the building came down on our people. What we need to find out is how. Who let him out, what they looked like, where they went." She patted his cheek. He stirred. "Why he didn't go with them."

Drawing back to sit on the bed, she pulled out her own gun and fitted a silencer to it. "You want to be the bad cop?"

Carmen grinned at the sight of the gun, flitting her eyelashes playfully.

"Why, of course."

With no small amount of trepidation, Candice shrugged, feigning disinterest, and handed her the pistol. "That's yours then. Don't kill him until we're done," she advised, moving to stand up in front of their man, hand drawn back high in the air before it landed on his cheek with a loud smack.

There was no good cop around here.
