Raising an eyebrow, Zach headed for the home accents store on a sudden whim, ignoring Lance's statement for the moment.

"Was just thinking," he said as he crossed the store's threshold. "It wouldn't be like Christmas.."

A weird expression came over his face as he took in the haphazard shop--pillows here, glasses there--no rhyme or reason as to the connection.

"We could make it our own."

"Yeah?" Lance muttered, picking up a pillow and frowning as it squished into a diffrent shape. "How do you suggest we do that?"

Squish.

Zach frowned right back, lobbing one of the weird squish pillows at Lance's head.

What? He hadn't really thought out his plan, what else was new?

"Can I help you, young gentlemen?"

Zach jumped. What the hell was up with people sneaking up behind him? It happened in this mall so much.

...or maybe he was just an asshole. Whatever.

"Uh.. yeah," he said, eyes darting to Lance. "Can we see, like, really cheap dinnerware that maybe isn't plastic."

Dinnerware? What the hell for?

"Of course," the salesman murmured, smiling obsequisously. "Right this way."

Hanging onto the squishy pillow, Lance followed Zach and the sales guy back into the recesses of the store, near the large red sign marked 'Clearence'. The whole thing was starting to feel frighteningly domestic, enough so that Lance wondered with a bit of dread if Zach was going to make them say 'grace' and eat casseroles and stuff, too.

The concept was freaking him out a bit.

Zach nodded and waved the guy off. He was a little scary at best.

Why was Lance looking at him that way? Did he have something on his face or something?

Rubbing at his nose self-consciously, he looked appraisingly at the not-really-plastic plates. In red. Intriguing.

"What do you think of red?" he asked carefully, staring at the plates some more.

And why did Lance still have that squishy pillow? Was he okay?
