Kirin was sitting on the ground beneath Jimmy's locker with the brim of his hat pulled low over his eyes. Twenty minutes ago, Kirin was waiting for Jimmy to show up so he could get something he left in his friend's locker at the game. Currently, he was fast asleep.

He knew better than to drift off at school, considering how often his bullies seemed to sense when Kirin had his guard down like sharks sensed blood in the water. He was simply too tired to care. With work, school, homework, and lengthy late-night phone calls, Kirin was taking whatever sleep he could get, whenever he could get it.

At least he was aware enough of leaving himself vulnerable that he had written on the top page of his notebook:

If you aren't Jimmy Lee, keep walking. Nothing to see here.

On her way out, Jackie passed by Jimmy's locker, hoping she hadn't missed him. She wanted to at least thank him for staying with her the night before. It's not like he was obligated to do it, and it was sweet. She saw Kirin on the ground by Jimmy's locker and she let out a soft giggle, approaching him.

"You know you're just asking to get jumped by a bunch of guys by sleeping in front of the lockers." she said.

Kirin tilted his head back and peeked an eye open. The hallway was brighter than it was when he closed his eyes, so he must have managed some sleep. Not enough.

"I'm going to get jumped awake or asleep anyway, might as well get some sleep anyway."

Kirin pulled his sunglasses from where he had hooked them on his collar and put them on. He picked up his sharpie and scribbled an addendum:

If you aren't Jimmy Lee, keep walking. Nothing to see here. or planning to jump me. Let me sleep. I'm tired.

"Better?"

Jackie smiled, shook her head. "It's a start I guess."

What's that thing they say about karma? Whatever.

"You do realize that you can use the student lounge, right? It's way more comfortable in there. And at this hour, it's most empty."

"Just because I can, doesn't mean I should." Kirin shrugged and closed his eyes. "I'm comfortable enough. Any more comfortable and I should just go home. Promised Jimmy I wouldn't skip Calc, so...what do you want?" he asked with a heavy sigh, he had a feeling that his naptime was unfortunately over.
