Bea went up the doors, not at all in a rush. She had been coming over every night to check up on things. It wasn't as if she expected Sophie to just turn up out of the blue or anything. She still hadn't gone to the police, mostly because she's in denial, trying to convince herself that nothing bad could have happened. She thought of herself as housesitting whenever she came over here. There had been no sign of foul play, so as far as she was concerned, that meant Sophie wasn't in any immediate danger. Right? As she trudged along the fourth floor landing toward Sophie's apartment, she rolled her head and neck, trying to work out the kink in her shoulders. Climbing up and down ladders stacking books wasn't as easy as it sounded. Most people probably didn't realize that there was so much heavy lifting involved. She hadn't expected tonight to be different from any of the previous couple of nights, so she was thrown for a loop when she noticed the front door slightly ajar as she approached it

Bea frowned. Wasn't she allowed to feel a little concern. Or more to the point, panic? Sophie had been missing without a trace for several days, after all. And now she had reappeared all of a sudden, passed out on her couch as if nothing had happened. She did as she was told, though, getting up to shut the light in the corner off before stumbling her way back to the couch in the semi-dark. She also made sure her voice was lower this time when she spoke. Please don't tell me she's suddenly picked up super hearing or something, too.
"Where have you been? Are you sure you're okay? I've been worried sick about you!"
"Thanks." It was still too bright, but there wasn't any lightswitch that could do much about IR, so Sophie made do with squinting. It did help. "I... just went out to the park. People-watching, you know. Did something happen?"
Because, while she couldn't recall anything at all ominous, it was starting to occur to her that this much disorientation could only be very bad.
Bea's mouth fell open. First of all, Sophie didn't seem to remember coming back from 'people-watching'. Secondly, the lack of knowledge in the passage of time severely worried her more than anything else. She forced herself to stop resembling a fish out of water. She opened her mouth to speak a few times before she could actually get any words out that wasn't 'uh'.
"Y-You've been gone...for days. I had no idea where you were, Sophie." She frowned, shaking her head. "Don't you remember anything?"

"'m fine," Sophie mumbled. "But stop yelling please. And turn off the damn lights."
