There was something about parks and New York that brought out the rebel in Candice. She knew parading her gift around was a poor idea. She knew there was more at stake now, more reason for her to keep it hidden.

And yet the only thing she could think of to do was experiment. Again.

From old to young and back to old again, from blonde to redhead to skinhead and from male to female, she changed, her every step a new persona. It was easy, especially when every passer-by was too busy to notice.

"Oh, holy-" Had these things always happened around her, and she just hadn't noticed it? See-through people and someone who was just... superimposed on herself like that?

It really didn't help that her normal colors kept shifting around, either. At least that provided an excuse for the staring.

Candice smiled as she passed the woman, taking in her expression until she realised... the woman hadn't looked away; hadn't gone about her business. She was still staring.

Startled, Candice stopped in her stride, still posing as a short, flat chested blonde.

"Are you alright?" she asked, incorporating a lot more into that question that three little words.

Sophie blinked. The shifting had stopped, at least, but now it was like looking at those 3D things without the glasses- two different images, not quite fitting together. Just when she'd thought nothing would look odder than Claude.

"I think I'm fine, thanks," she told the woman carefully. "Is anything strange with you?"

"Strange? Why would you ask that?" Candice asked, feeling a pinprick of panic travel down her spine. This woman shouldn't have been able to see her. If she did, then...

Would Bennet have to be called in?

"Oh, it's none of my business," Sophie assured her. She'd said she'd be careful, after all. Just a pity she wasn't exactly the best liar in all of history but, well, it shouldn't be a problem with someone else special, right?

So she relented. Just a very little. "Just that, no offense or anything, but something about you... looks kind of off."
