He barely got out a hello before Joey's voice sounded in his ear, talking a mile a minute. Tensing once he'd realized who it was, Lance waited until the other man finished, closing the refrigerator door.

"I don't know, maybe you should be the one going places. Don't think I want to go to your place just to get kicked out again."

Joey winced and nodded unseen. "Right. Sorry I--I'll be over in a bit then."

He didn't even say goodbye just shut the phone off and let out a curse. This was not the way to go about doing this at all. He wandered over to where Gingersnap lay curled up on a chair and kissed her head before heading out the door.

Time seemed to both too fast and too slow as he traveled, and by the time he'd gotten to Lance's door any confidence he'd built up had run away the moment the man opened it.

Lance leaned in the doorway, shoulder resting against the jamb, not letting the other man in just yet.

Joey was about to return the question and then shook his head.

"I wasn't gonna have the conversation over the phone, I'm not having it out in the hall. It's between you and me," he murmured. "Please let me in."

Lance just looked at him for a moment before stepping aside, letting the other man in and closing the door behind him, leaning up against it. Regarding the other man silently, he stuck his hands in his pockets, features impassive.

"Well?"
