They'd tested to see if it still worked if they didn't speak English- and she'd been assured that Agent Gitelman did- but Eden's heart was still pounding. If anyone had asked her what she'd have expected out of being a spy, it would have been something like this. And the Company seemed to be getting wiser, too; she'd just been sent to talk.

"You don't need to see my identification," she called out, and not only didn't her voice shake at all, she didn't snicker at all either.

The woman nodded, but kept her gun pointed out where the voice had come from. She was surprised when she heard the woman respond in English, and in an American accent at that. She switched over to English but still kept the measure of authority in her voice. "You are tresspassing on Government property. I am placing you under arrest. Come out where I can see you."

"I'm not under arrest, either." This part was ridiculously familiar, and the sensation of a seriously misspent life crept up on Eden. For about the hundredth time. "I'm here to speak to you, not hurt you. So I really think you should put down that gun, okay?"

Hana thumbed the safety of her rifle back on and lowered it, though her body was still poised for a fight. Even though she was much less alert now for a reason she couldn't seem to find, she was still not going to take her chances. "Who are you and why are you on government property?" she asked then.

"It's like I said. To speak to you." Eden stepped out of her hiding place, hands held out to look nonthreatening. "See, I know about you, Hana. You're special, like me. And I know more special people. I can help you if you let me."
