Arthritis Camp week 1

Nov 24, 2013 19:39

I have adjusted to Arthritis Camp gradually, like slipping into a hot bath. I have to admit I was afraid when I came here: afraid of letting go of the stress, letting down my guard and just being me. When the going gets tough, I don't reflect upon how I really am: the tough get going, right? The tough, the ignorant, and the crazy... It's hard to ( Read more... )

How long will you there anyway? And gosh I can imagine how nice it must be to be surrounded by folks who actually knów what it's like to be young and looking fine but actually struggling with daytoday stuff sometimes cause of stupid healthstuffies. It's one of the reasons why I was hoping to get into the heart revalidation program after my ablations but sadly my cardiologist didn't think it was necessary (and I know I should have pressed cause by regulations and insurance and what not I "qualify" but it's hard to go against your specialist I guess, esp since I do think she did a good job for me and I respect her and all that, and well after all I'd been through after those ablations I wasn't / am not my strongest self either I guess.. but still!) Have a good time there and I hope it'll do you loads of good! Is it a yearly thing?

I get to be here for three weeks. I'm allowed to go home on the weekends, but that's costly and I honestly need the rest. From what I understand, my health council's policy allows me a visit per year, but they don't exactly advertise it. My doctor is cool about that kind of thing - it's a shame he is retiring next year.

Well if it's in the policies that you can go every year, it's a good thing YOU know so you can make sure you can go (if that's what you want) even if your specialist doesn't remember or advertise it. And what a shame that your doctor is retiring next year.. it's difficult enough to find a good doc and then to find one you really click with even harder? Do you know who will be his follow up?

My electrophysiologist is great, she really does know her stuff.. but she's lacking a bit on the psychosocial bit maybe *g* And when I asked her about the heart revalidation program she said she had no clue how to get patients in there..?! It's something the dutch heart association (spelling?) is trying to get out there, the information about the programs, and who all will benefit from it, to specialists around the country. They have some ways to go still!
