Kitty rules

For kejn and my sister, who both took in strays this year.

How to NOT to become a cat-owner when interacting with stray cats:
  1. Do not look at the cat, especially if it is a kitten
  2. If you can't help looking at the cat, do NOT pet it
  3. If you must pet it, look for a collar, tattoo or the like
  4. If the cat doesn't have any ID, this is your last chance to run

hahahaha!! So easy to read, so hard to follow. Our neighbors brought home a stray not-quite-kitten (he's probably about a year old) and he's an outdoor cat (like all 3 of the previous ones, all of whom have died or disappeared.. ugh). He's super friendly and purrs like crazy and comes right on in the house to say hello when the doors or windows are open. Tonight he was out in front of their house when I came home and he came running up to be petting and loved on and then followed me inside. He walked around a bit, said hello to Anders and Karin and then jumped out a window. He looks like my old Pooka and Toby so resistance is double-difficult. But he's not exactly a stray anymore and we don't feed him, so there's that. :)

Nope, your neighbors are the ones who were conned into taking that one in. I do think it's truly wonderful that people give stray cats good, proper homes, but I can't help laughing those who insist they don't want to/can't take one in and then do just that. It must be a kitty Jedi mind trick of some kind. ;) but seriously, do their cats just not get how cars work?
