Humanity is benevolent to the extent humans have satisfied their own needs.

(Both empirical, as all good claims and concepts are.)

To what extent is voluntary trade dependent on information (the ideal state being the 'perfect information' assumption made in basic economic theory)?

Great question, I've been thinking about the relation. I'd say it's voluntary unless there is fraud, i.e., misrepresentation. It just points up the fact that knowledge is the greatest value on earth, and the first thing people should concern themselves with as self-interested actors ( ... )
