The Obvious

Okay, now that I've done my dour duty in opposing our new socialist leader throughout the campaign, I can take a moment to rejoice: We elected a black person for President!

We've come a long way if an African-American can spearhead our descent into insolvency! Times were when only a white man had that privilege.

Word. Though I was thinking about it another way: We clearly are a deeply ageist and sexist country to have rejected John McCain for his age and Sarah Palin (and Hillary, before her) for her gender. That's the only reason why they lost!

A lot of people here in Portland, OR told me i should elect him because hes black and not too old.

"Will America overcome racism in this presidential election?"

No.

We also elected a smart, reasonable person for president. That's gotta be worth something.

Haven't you read the news? Obama won, not the person you're referring to.

Palin didn't win? You mean we're going to continue spreading the myth that dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago?

And I don't know about you, but I didn't come from no monkey!

We really should celebrate this. I was born the same year the civil rights act was passed. So, in my lifetime, I've seen this country go from institutionalized racism to electing a black President. Of course, I wish it was a different black President.
