Oh, my GOD this is amazing. The conversation Helen and Merlin have just about breaks my heart. Merlin seems so much older and resigned, yet he's not despairing, and he's still linked to life. I love how you touch on other stories, give the world such depth; Sani's story, Albion during the war.
And the age-off is brilliantly amusing: "I'm over a hundred"... and she's run into perhaps the first person who isn't at all surprised or put off by that, because he's a thousand years older than that.
