Love these!! Especially 4, oh my gosh I'm always thinking like that. Broken a plate - what sound did it make? Ow, that nettle sting ... what adjective? Missed my bus: hmm, how would I write the emotions I'm feeling ... ?
Here's mine:
You know you're a writer when you're disappointed you've never broken a bone - because you'll never be able to describe a breakage truly accurately in a novel.
Emily, exactly!! And as someone who has broken a bone -- twice -- it depends on the break! Once it was like crunch, the next more like a pop. *shudders*
... and you know you're a writer when you think "wow, that was well-described" before feeling sympathetic. :P But seriously! - "pop" & "crunch" immediately conjured vivid impressions. Wow. Ouch. I hope they're all healed now!!
Shari, I have done this too!! Good one. Unless you are in a big hurry to pick up a kid from practice, in which case, ummm, sorry, son, but I was WRITING. xxoo
What about how sometimes people look at you funny because you seem to be talking to yourself, but really you're acting out conversations between characters and it just LOOKS like insanity? Or is that just me? ;p

My contribution:
You know you're a writer when you're arguing with your spouse and have to resist grabbing a notepad to record the minute details. ;-)

On a similar note, you miss your exit or turnoff while driving because you are having imaginary conversations in your head between characters.
