Oh no, poor you and the missing food groups! (Though imagining your WIP hunk as a hunk of cheese was pretty entertaining) I'm a dairy fiend too, and fellow playwright/director for kids and teens.

I have one wild boy and I literally cried with joy and ran off to Baby Gap to load up on pink clothes when the ultrasound said we were having a girl. Not that I don't absolutely adore my boy. I so do. I love him to bits and wouldn't trade him for the world, but the he-she balance is very nice.

As you know, one can only take so much caped kamikaze jumps off the couch in one lifetime. =;

Welcome to Tenners!

I dream of that Baby Gap spending spree for pink clothing. My husband always laughs and says that I don't actually want to raise a girl, I just want to be able to dress one. Boys clothes just aren't as thrilling to buy--and you know they're going to put a hole in it in about 2.5 seconds.

As for the kamikaze jumps off the couch--I'm surprised my toddler is still alive!

lol! same here. i would proclaim something huge, but i won't in fear of the almighty jinx. knock on wood.

ha. that's what my husband said too about the pink princess girly gap obsession. now he's just as obsessed w/ his baby girl (and comments how cute her clothes are too! he's entirely ruined by her sweet cheeks. =;)

Oh, huge sympathy on the diet - I'm also on a dairy-free (and soy-free) diet right now on doctor's orders, and it really sucks! I am right there with you on the cheese fantasies, and yesterday I almost started crying over an advertisement for Ben & Jerrys...

And I can't WAIT to read your book! :)

Oi. No soy too? I don't know if I could handle that one since most dairy free chocolate has soy in it.

And I REALLY miss Ben and Jerry's. Sorbet just doesn't quite cut it when what you really want is a bowl of Chocolate Therapy ice cream. Okay, I must stop talking about dairy now or I might start gnawing on my own arm. . .

Welcome to the Tenners! Your book sounds great. Preachers' kids (or pastors kids, as the case may be) are a real source of intrigue!

I love your advice that great books are revised rather than written. As someone who's hollering daily at the un-greatness of her original draft, that is comforting to remember!

Thanks. I heard that bit of advice at a writing conference a couple of years ago, and it saved my writing career. I had become obsessed with the idea that my words had to be perfect or I would never get published--and it stopped my writing cold for months.

It also makes it easier to digest my revisions letters. I have to chant like a mantra, "Great books are revised . . .great books are revised . . ." in order to psych myself up for another round of work :)

Welcome! Your novel sounds fabulous. And I'm with you: three little boys scares me too! I have two little girls, and they are thankfully quiet for the most part!
