Break my heart, woman! This perfectly encaptured everything I have always felt about that scene. The look on Charles' face as he begs Erik not to put the helmet on just kills me every time and now this fic has done it again.

Sigh.

Of course we knew what was going to happen, but Charles didn't. You know I like the idea of a connection between him and Erik. This drabble makes it all the more wistful. In a way it's ironic, because choose is exactly what Erik did. It just wasn't the choice Charles hoped for.
