Author's Notes: the blue flannel pj bottoms with beer mugs on them do actually exist. zingerman's is an actual deli. i never had their chicken soup, tho.
Nash is wearing blue flannel pajama bottoms with little pictures of beer mugs all over them. Daniel finds this really funny. Nash is also wearing Neil's MIT hoodie, which is just odd, because why does Neil have an MIT hoodie in the first place? He's not even from Boston.
(That Nash is wearing someone else's sweatshirt is not odd in itself. He has never, as long as Daniel has known him, had any concept of personal property. What's his is yours, which also means that what's yours is his. Even if you're Daniel and your shirts don't always fit him, or you're Neil and your hoodie isn't always clean. But this is what friends do for each other, he thinks - they share their stuff.)
Nash is also fast asleep on the couch at eight-thirty in the morning when he should by all rights be in bed - if not his own bed, then someone else's - and this combined with the fact that he's half-covered in a blanket and has the hood of Neil's sweatshirt pulled over his head lead Daniel to believe that Nash is still sick. Which means he'll be a snotty, sniffly, phlegmy ball of complaint when he wakes up, and when he said he didn't have to take any more Nyquil because he was feeling better, he was lying.
But it also means he'll legitimately feel like crap, and as annoying as it is to have a sick Nash slumping around the house - because Nash is a very bad sick person who could try anyone's patience - Daniel can't help but feel sorry for him. It sucks to have a cold in the dead of winter and still have to go to class and study and attend labs and go to band practice and be a functioning human being. Although Daniel wouldn't exactly call what Nash has been doing "functioning"....
Maybe he'll make his way down to Zingerman's later and pick up some chicken soup. Because if friends borrow other friends' hoodies to sleep in and cover with sickness germs, friends also bring friends hot soup to make them feel better. And Daniel likes to think Nash would do the same for him, were he reduced to sleeping on the couch in flannel and someone else's sweatshirt.
