He stared into the nothingness of the dark sky.
‘Haruhi won’t like this.’
The last time it rained, she had been cowering in the church at Karuizawa. That time, his brother had run off on her. She was searching for him, and now the two were out again. He hoped this time that wouldn’t happen.
Lightning flashed off the metal object with the thunder roaring shortly after it disappeared.
“Hikaru, you better get back soon.”
Kaoru waited outside for a long time, long enough to concern his parents. More than once, they walked up to him, asking if everything was alright.
“Yes,” he would reply absently.
‘Just get back.’
He never expected them to die that day.
