Do they do that? Put them back in the wild I mean? In Germany there are great protests when they are talking about wild cats, lynx, wolves or even bears to be re-introduced in the wild. Me, I think they are better off in the wide woods in Russia or somesuch. In Germany they'd probably be trodden on by walkers and mountain bikers every other meter.
I don't know if there's an active programme of doing that for Scottish Wildcats but it's usually the ultimate aim for endangered species if at all possible.
There sre still some Wildcats living free in Scotland, but fewer than 400 of them apparently.
They've just reintroduced beavers into the wild in Scotland, with reasonable success so far, I think. There have been noises made about reintroducing wolves here too, but sadly, I think there's probably not room for them now - I suspect farmers would shoot them "by accident" or else the poor things would be run over by stupid motorists :-(
Thank you! The sculptor of the gorilla is called Duncan Thurlby and he's absolutely brilliant. I wish we had the money and the space to own one of his large pieces.

The wild cat looks almost like a house cat. Pity for the captivity. :(
It's sad, but they're endangered in the wild, so hopefully the ones in the zoo will breed and their descendants can help repopulate the Highlands.

I did a bit of a google and founf this page from the Scottish Wildcat Association. I think I know where I'm buying my Christmas cards this year too...
