I really like shine, it's nicely aligned for an accident, and I'm also really taken with Elemental, which has a nice, open 'river of life' (or creek) feel.
I've obviously explained this badly: the final shine that you're seeing isn't an accident - the photo I took by accident gave me the idea for shine, and then I took several more but from much better angles. So you're getting the finished product. Sorry about that!
I wasn't even sure whether or not to post Elemental as I wasn't completely happy with it - it didn't look, to me, like the scene I'd seen [not intentional, that], so I'm doubly glad you like it. Thank you.
I also thought that [info]cat63 might like the lichen.
[grin] You know mw too well :-) Nice group - such a sad yet somehow serene face on carved, which is apt for a grave marker really. The style of it reminds me of something that I can't quite place...
I love the rusty metal of curve too and the rushing river.
You have mentioned a liking for lichen on more than one occasion, so I remember it well! And now I find myself looking at lichen that I see with curiosity, wondering what about it interests you, and finding myself get interested in it in slow dribs and drabs. How is it different than moss?
I thought the angel in carved was really unusual and very much wanted a photograph of it. I'm glad you liked the photos. Thank you.
Lichen is a symbiotic organism - one part is a fungus and the other part varies from species to species and can be either an algae or a bacteria. It propagates by means of the fungus releasing spores, but when those grow they have to be "infected" by the other component in order to form a viable lichen colony. Apparently even the experts aren't completely sure how the two bits find one another!
That's why it's so slow to propagate and grow and why there are so many different colours. And the fruiting bodies look like miniature alien cities :-) What's not to like? :-)
I'm glad you like carved; I really like the angel in it as it's an unusual face for a grave marker. I'm really glad to have elemental out of the way as my jaw rather dropped when I saw that prompt. Although I'm not completely satisfied with my photo, the prompt is out of the way if I don't find something better. Thanks very much!
