Thanks to all of you that voted for me and said nice things about my photo. :) I have to say though, that cat is darn cute and looks friendly, but s/he is giving the best intense and piercing stare. He just might be eating my soul right now, as trishtrash suggested with the title. And the ax thing is pretty cool. I would have never thought to put an ax and a snail in the same picture.
For the confused people, like I said in a comment to jaelle_n_gilla, pumpkin festivals are fairly common in New England, and I hail from Maine. This particular festival was a fundraiser for a camp for kids with serious illnesses and their families, and at the same time they were trying to break the world record for amount of jack-o-lanterns lit at one time. (Usually Boston wins that, but festivals in Maine and NH have won a few times.) They fell short this year, but they still had something like 22,000 jack-o-lanterns. It was pretty crazy!
Maybe I should tell where the ax pic came from, too. We took a walk on Halloween day around some garden plots. One person had their entrance decorated with a giant silver hand (you can see the finger tip where the snail sits on) and in the background there was a sign that said something witty in the tones of "Those financial guys are doing with our money as they wish, and they get richer by making others poorer". It depicted a briefcase with an ax strapped to it.
The snail was there on pure coincidence. I took a picture of the snail, and the ax got in the background just *because*. When trish pre-osted the challenge, I just knew I would enter this.
So, nothing really halloweeny in this picture, and the look and feel wasn't that scary at all, and therefore I think you won the contest very rightfully with the very pretty Jack O'Lantern field :-) Congrats!
And I am so grateful ONE person voted for me *smiles*

I'm feeling a little bad because I needn't have set this up as a poll - I could have asked for comments, and screened them. I really like your photo and thought the voting would be more even.
No, don't feel bad please! The Jack O'Landscape won for a good reason as it is a great pic AND very halloweeny. As I said, mine isn't even related to halloween in my mind, so that's quite ok :-)
These are all so good. It was hard to decide. The axe-man is just fantastic, it has a fantastic surreal air about it. Your soul, love the nod to lolcat, and I adore black kittehs in general. The sea of jack o'lanterns is just amazing, not to mention VERY Halloween-y.
