Everywhere
Two years ago he asked her out. Six months later he told her he loved her. Six months after that he asked her to marry him. She said yes. Two weeks later he took a bullet for her and died. And she was left to pick up the pieces.
Angela said that it was normal. She said it was normal to see him everywhere because she missed him and she hadn’t accepted his death yet. Brennan knew that both of these things were true, but she didn’t really care about why she kept seeing him, she just wanted it to stop.
He haunted her daily. Sometimes he was at the lab with that foolish charm smile of his. Other times he was at Wong Foo’s when she and the squints were there for drinks. He was at the grocery store and he was on the streets. When she was writing her book he was reading over her shoulder. She would come home and find him sitting on the sofa then burst into tears when she blinked and he wasn’t there.
There wasn’t a night when she didn’t dream about him. Sometimes they would be solving a case and other times they would be going for walks hand-in-hand, or having a picnic in the park. Temperance never really cared for picnics but it didn’t matter because she was with Booth and at that moment in time nothing else was more important. They were nice dreams, but she would inevitably wake with tears streaming down her face.
It wasn’t fair of him to do this to her. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could stand it. Living without him was difficult enough without seeing him, but it was cruel of him to deceive her by making her think that he was there in front of her and then to disappear in the blink of an eye. It was torture. Moving on would be impossible until she could make him stop appearing. And she did know that she was the only one who could stop it. She just didn’t know how. And until she could let him go he would continue to haunt her, day and night.
