Sarah arrives late, clutching a triple latte, squinting against the sunlight glaring through the windows of the auction house.
"What are you trying to prove?" snaps her father.
The answer is simple, and impossible to explain. Sharing what Sam does, she'll stop missing him so badly. Understanding what Sam does, she'll stop missing him entirely. Thus far, neither method has proven squat. She aches for him.
However. She's weathered the first nightmares; she's learned that some supernatural creatures are only slightly dangerous. Chant, salt, burn, bury. Yeah. She can do that.
Every morning she wakes up a little bit braver.
