043 - Watch 20 Documentaries

Achieved?
20 documentaries will have been watched by me

Why?
I have to say, growing up in the UK I was fairly spoiled by the splendour that is a BBC production. Their documentaries, among other things, are superb and I miss being able to flick one on the telly most nights. So, I decided that it would be a goal, to watch more documentaries, not all BBC ( Read more... )

Oo! I like documentaries. May I suggest:

- Bowling for Columbine and/or Fahrenheit 9/11
- Food Inc. (in US theaters now)
- Spellbound
- Planet Earth (actually a miniseries, but it's brilliant)
- Supersize Me
- Shut Up and Sing
- Winged Migration
- March of the Penguins
- My Kid Could Paint That

Have fun! This sounds like an entertaining task.

Thanks for the recs! I have seen a couple, but I think I'm going to watch 'Spellbound' again as I loved that one! Also, is 'Planet Earth' the David Attenborough series? If so, then that too is on the list.

I am intrigued by the sound of the last one :)

Yes--Planet Earth is the Attenborough series. It's gorgeous.

And that last one is even more interesting than it sounds. It starts out with the filmmakers thinking it's going to to be about one thing, and then it slowly shifts to being about something else...

I love a good documentary. My love goes so far that I'm not even picky when it comes to the topics--just last week I watched one on our local tv station about the history of underwear, I kid you not. Oh man, I'm such a dork. :)

Me too - I would so much rather watch a documentary than most of the other crud that is on australian tv... the history of underwear sounds totally like something I would watch :)
