All I know is that in the past week or so whenever I've followed a link to flickr it has been RIDICULOUSLY slow for me. Like 30-45 seconds for each page load, which makes browsing a photo collection intolerable.

I don't think I've used smugmug. I personally use Picasa and have no problems with it.

I like Smugmug, it's worth the $40 a year or so to me because their print quality when you order them is fairly high.

For organization, I really like Flickr. I think the pro account is worth it too. Tags, sets and collections and unlimited uploads. Also, if you choose to only pay once, you can let the year of pro expire and then you still have everything loaded. ShepDC uses it a ton and I would rely on her input as well.

I like Picassa because it ties into my gmail account, so all the addresses I want to send photos to are already there.
