For the first time in a good while, I was browsing through fic for an American show.

Most people tend to make a pretty good point about 'Britpicking' when writing for, say, Doctor Who or Torchwood, which I think is awesome. I don't mind americanisms in random bits of descriptive prose, but when it's in dialogue coming out of characters' mouths,

I have many betas, but no britpicker, and though I use a slightly more British form of English than my Canadian friends (since my mother was raised in a british-english household), I miss many things - so if I tapped you for that sometime, would that be okay?

Of course : ) Though to be fair, I do notice these things a lot less on average with you - though that may be partly down to the fact that you had the handwave-y 'but it's in space' excuse to fall back on for some time. Sort of like how they justify the truly inspired mix that is Farscape English.

Out of curiosity, do you pronounce it BAYta or BEEta? Because I've just realised that I've been subconsciously doing it the british way in my head for a while now. Weird.

I say BAYtuh for the person doing it, and BEH-tuh for the verb (i.e. I will BEHtuh this for you, Im your BAYtuh.)

Also, yeah, I did not worry about any Britishisms except what Ianto would think (i.e. trousers) which made a lot of the dialogue easier.
