lol this is late but I meant to comment on it, I was just mostly asleep at the time

but I really like this, conceptually ♥ It's nice to see a fic that has a real progression in it, where a character has grown significantly over the piece even though it's not that long! Also, my bias for the Oaks is showing! But: I'm glad I got to read this, yes.

I know it's a really late reply, but I'm really glad you liked it :). Actually, Shuri is one hell of a character to write - he's such an idiot that it was pretty hard to give him some depth. Still, I must tell I somehow started to like him more after finishing that story. And I still hope that he and Hakuren will meet at some point in the canon (though maybe in less dramatic circumstances ;)).

O_O i never even thought about their relationship and here you wrote a whole story about it.

i love how you told it too, how much Shuri grows up seeing Hakuren as a normal person, with more honor and pride than the entire Oak family. Hakuren's strength and determination were very canon and believable. i love how he reacted when Shuri makes him see what Teito would truly do, how it'd the one thing that broke him.

Well, the idea came to my mind while I was still watching the series. I wanted to confront them somehow - and that story is the result :). I'm glad to hear that I managed to keep Hakuren in character - I think it's quite easy to overidealise him.
Thanks for your comment, I really aprreciate it; and forgive me for replying so late, please :).
