Last week I saw a groupon for maid service and jumped on it. B bought us two two-hour cleaning sessions. The first one was today ( Read more... )

Working in cleaning I can say that 2 hours is a minimal time limit for just the basics. Most clients want extra chores that fall outside the norm, which usually take 30 to 60 minutes depending on the request. Truly people who tidy up their trinkets beforehand are a blessing :)

One job I went to (I refused to return) the woman had more than 100 tiny bottles lined up on her bathtub. She expected the entire bathroom cleaned in 30 minutes, including the bottles. She then wanted all the bottles returned to the exact position they had been before. Also I had to talk her out of insisting that I wash with soap and water her headboard which was made of corkboard. Haha! Her hoover barely worked and then she announces that just as I was leaving, that she was going out to buy a new one!

On the other hand over the years I have had plenty of pleasant experiences as well. The kid who glued the cookie behind the toilet in the school I cleaned at was quite funny :) I'm still not sure about the cut up hot dogs in the sink though, lol!

Yeah, I don't object to what they did and how. I mean, we bought a two-hour cleaning session. And these ladies were pros: they finished after two hours and one minute. I think they knew how to pace themselves and get it all done exactly within the right amount of time.

I just really wish they had dusted the air vents :) But seriously, the house looks great.

It takes time to learn how to clean. Honestly I think I would have thought people were crazy if they had just told me that before I started working in that field. I learnt a lot of things that I was even able to integrate into my own life. As much as some of the work has been hard I truly don't regret my time in this field.

I can understand your wish for everything to have been done as requested. But, I am happy to hear you are mostly satisfied. Money well spent!

I love groupon! Last year and this years vacation has all been booked via groupon! I've honestly only had one negative experience with them so far and it wasn't with groupon it was with the company that I bought the coupon for. Otherwise fantastic service!

Lucky you, indeed!

I have so much deep cleaning to do and only so many spoons.

Same here. Low spoons, lots of cleaning to do. The fact that they came and cleaned everything gave me the spoons to clean under and behind the fridge, which really really needed it and was gross.

Off topic here: Why would anyone pay money to watch television, and television with more commercials than regular television, at that?

It is beyond me. I remember when I was a kid, the big deal was that cable had no commercials. Now it is full of them. And in the age of the internet, I just don't know why anyone would pay for cable TV.
