Second-person POV is actually one of my biggest writing!kinks; that it's so rarely used (and so widely despised) has always made me sad. So I'm thrilled to see it here, and put to such engaging use. Your language is, as always, beautiful, and that last line was fantastic in all ways.

I AGREE. I think that partly it gets a bad reputation due to you-Sues and so forth. Or just because it could become too self-consciously "edgy".

I was waiting for fic from you, and was prepared to wait as long as it took, but wow, this was pretty fast! ♥

I usually can't stand 1st person, but second person POV is something I definitely approve of! It's just plain sad that writers don't use it more often! :'(

What I found incredibly striking about the entire fic is how perfectly you captured Lee's thoughts in regards to Gaara. And... you even have him being envious, which is <333. Most of fandom ignores the possibility that Lee can get jealous, ignores it in favour of his more appealign qualities - even Lee gets jealous, because he's only human, and that fact is brought out so well here!

There's just somehting so solid and gripping about the language~! And the characterization was so spot on. And the last sentence was so powerful!

Conlcusion: I heart this very, very hard. 8D

Hm, it is true that I could probably count the total number of fics I've read in second-person on one hand. And it is sad!

I wrote this because I really like Lee and I always felt bad for him during the chuunin exams... He worked so hard, but Gaara really was just an impossible opponent. It's not fair at all, so I felt like (even if he's not the sort of person who would ever admit it) he must be resentful of Gaara. But on the other hand, being jealous of Gaara is ridiculous-- no one in their right mind would ever want to live the life he has had.
