Hetalia fandom? Specifically, doujinshi division? Can we have a word?

Why is it that 90% of the Germany/Italy doujinshi out there seem to be dubcon-ish at best? I get that Italy tends to get cast as the weepy uke type, but surely that doesn't mean that he literally has to cry during sex all the time... right? Because personally, if someone ( Read more... )

I don't like how that keeps cropping up in doujinshi, either. I'm seriously not a fan of dubcon or, really, anything less than enthusiastic, eager consent. You say that it's 90% of doujinshi... I'm very, very new to the doujinshi scene (I started looking two days ago, to be precise), so I don't know how to navigate it very well. Do you have any that you'd recommend?

I don't know whether you speak Japanese or not, but, if you don't, I would be happy to translate the enthusiastic consent sort of doujinshi for you. I'm not quite fluent, but I know enough to translate adequately. Just thought I'd offer.

Well, 90% of the doujinshi I've read, anyway. It is rather disappointing. As for recommendations... I'm not sure, actually. Because they end up irritating me so much of the time, I don't read all that many doujinshi.

And no, I don't speak a word of Japanese. I'd really like to learn someday, but you know... learning a language is such a big commitment of time. Anyway, your offer is very generous, but as I said, I'm not really sure what I'd recommend to translate. If you're interested in doujinshi, I'm sure you'll find something, though.

I bet that I can find something, it's true, but dubcon (and worse) make me so disgusted that I lose the will to keep searching. Also, I don't really know which doujinshi are already translated, so I don't know what I should scanlate...

But if you come across a doujinshi that you really like, send it my way, and I'll translate it for you to the best of my ability. The offer does stand. I'm not fluent, but I do think I could do it. Just let me know! Also... If I find a doujinshi with enthusiastic consent, should I pass it on to you?

Well, I know that hetalia at least has a separate tag for scanlations of doujinshi, so I suppose you could start there to see what's already been translated? Some of the other comms might have similar tags too; I don't remember anymore.

As far as being discouraged goes: while I do think it's true that people way under-warn for dubcon, they at least usually do when it comes to noncon, if that makes you feel any better. ...Actually, I don't know if I ever have come across a full-on noncon doujin for this pairing. I mean, I'm sure they're out there, but I haven't ever encountered one. :/

Anyway, as far as doujinshi I like... like I said, I'd have to think about it. But yes, by all means, if you find something interesting and want to share, I'd love a link.
