Oh, I like. Your Temari is amazing--just the right amounts tough, defensive, loving, and coy. I love the dialogue you've given her, here.

And I agree that Shikamaru's characterization is difficult! I've only ever tried writing him once, I think, and it was some random conversation between him and Sakura about Sasuke. But it seems like you're off to a good start here. I loved the way he talked about Gaara and Kankurou. XP He seems a little bit rigid, though? (Of course, don't take that as gospel; I really wouldn't know what makes a spot-on Shikamaru voice or not. Just an outsider's opinion. XP) That may be because Temari has suddenly taken up residence at his house, though, and Chuunin exam preparations are underway.

I think Temari might be one of my favorite characters. I'm actually always really nervous about her characterization, though; it seems like most people write her a little... nicer, I guess? But I can't help but think that nobody who grew up in that household is ever going to fit the normal definition of nice.

No, I can see what you mean about Shikamaru. He always tends to be so lazy relaxed....

Oh, thank you! Although the fic I have planned is going to be a lot more on the angst/tragedy side, just so you know. But I agree that it can be weirdly hard to find fic for this pairing.

I love angst AND WHUMPAGE, and definitely like tragedy, if it's purposeful and well executed. Shikatema, though, I'm really easy to please. I have a strange fascination with "they find a way to get married and/or have a baby and start a family" fics, probably because one of the only good, long shikatema fics i can find is Catch 22 by lotos-eater.

Yeah, you'd think there would be a lot more fic for this pairing considering its popularity.

Angst and whumpage are amazing, aren't they? You know, I'm not a big fan of baby fic, but I can see how it would be interesting to see Temari (or either of her brothers, for that matter) as a parent, since she really doesn't have any experience of having had normal parents.

It sounded very good I think, and I like hearing about a disgustingly long ShikaTema fic, since this short piece came off rather well, I have high expectations for the future long fic! You did them both well, though I THINK I agree what Kalliel said about him being a tad rigid. It's not HUGE, but just a tiny bit. :3 But even without any modifications, I think Shikamaru was done really well, so you can just ignore the 'tad too rigid' comment.

I like the style you took, particularly the comments in the parentheses. It gave it such a nice light humor -- lovely. Plus, the ending line was great -- I really love it when people end with such a nice fluid sentence that packs a punch emotionally.

Ah, no, if two people have said it now, then I think I definitely have to listen. Well, like I said, Shikamaru's personality tends to confuse me, to be honest, so I'm glad to have feedback on that.

Oh, I know. All of the sandsibs seem to be rather handsome people, but Knakurou's make up and clothing makes him look rather awful. Maybe it's just a puppet people thing?
