Ponderables on a Legion Game

So I've mentioned wanting to start a Legion of Super-Heroes based game.  This, in and of itself, prompts me to think of three options.

1) A more or less canon-based "now"-ish game, with the focus on the Legionnaires as the characters.

2) A Legion Academy game, focusing on possible future Legion members.

3) A nextgen Legion game, focusing on the kids of the Legion members  (I have a Brainy/Supergirl kid ready made for this)

Past that, if option one is gone with, the question then becomes, which Legion?  Especially since there's three major variants upon that theme.  The current/retro-boot Legion, based in the pre-FYL Levitz Legion (which appeals to the nostalgia for nostalgia's sake part of me), the post-ZH "Archie" Legion (which has its major fans as well, myself included), and the three-boot Legion (which does have its fans, but was not nearly as well received I don't think).

My own preference is for one based around the original Legion, but I'm also willing to incorporate other elements as wanted.  I know there's been specific mention of Triad, and the fan in me of the Archie Legion would hate to leave out Kinetic, Gates, and XS.

On the other end, from the original Legion, I'd like to preserve such elements as Wildfire (yes, I know he was in the Archie Legion, but it is not nearly the same thing), Dawnstar, Blok, the White Witch, Quislet, Tellus, Matter-Eater Lad, Bouncing Boy, Polar Boy, and the like.  I'm also a big fan of Mon-El as Mon-El, with having befriended the Clark Kent Superboy and what not.

So...
