Ughhh! What the frakkin’ frak is the point of posting something in a public community when you’re post is friends locked?! It frustrates the bejesus out of me! I was trying to view some pics from fridaynight_tv which led to some personal locked LJ *anger* Really, this is just pointless - public community, private post? WTF?! I rarely friend people unless I know

It has annoyed me for a while, especially with icons and communities I visit like _fandom_icons_ , but enough is enough. It’s like people are asking to be friended or want more people joining their communities for something.

I had my community MO for a while. I thought I could prevent people from stealing but it's not working that way ;) and yeah, it's just plain annoying. I also think the "one day it's puplic then it will go MO" is total bshit...

I opened up my community from friends-only to hopefully bring in more members & affiliates. I manly friends-only'd it because I had some drama with a chick back home stealing pictures and posting them for derogatory purposes.

But yes, I totally agree with this post.

Oh that is totally understandable! Some people have reasons for making their posts friends only cos there are some shits out there who just steal things, especially without credit. The thing that bugs me most is that people make a post in public communities (which *should* invite everyone in) only to find out it’s a private post, kinda defeats the purpose, don’t you agree? :p

I totally agree with that. If you make something friends-only but post it in a public community, make a new post with the stuff in it, at least, I say!

I so know what you mean! There will be times when I'll see icon posts that I'd really like to check out, but when I click on the link it's an FO post in some other community or in a personal LJ. That's soooo annoying!

Apart from worrying about people stealing icons without credit or something like that, I don’t really understand why people lock their posts. Maybe that is the only reason LOL. Sure there are some people who take icons without credit, but I am not as uptight about it as others. I am not the police and can’t track down each and every person who uses my icons with or without credit. This is the world of LJ, some people are dishonest or just plain lazy. It’s just how the cookie crumbles.

I'm completely with you on that, I hate that too. I just don't get why they would post something in a public community if we have to friends this person/community to see the post, it just makes absolutely no sense to me. At least don't make this entry friends only !

I guess I can relate to that. I've had to join communities to just see one post. Its crappy.
