July 2009 Financial Report.

I'm pretty sure if you've been reading my blog for quite some time, you would know that I've been reading Sheconomics and am trying to apply what I've learnt from the book into my daily life.. :-D

Starting from June 2009, my parents made some amendments to our monthly allowance system. So yeah, me and Sha were given debit cards, where a certain amount would be credited into our accounts every month and we had to pandai-pandai hidup. No asking for extra cash and we weren't allowed to use our credit cards anymore except for petrol and emergencies.. And sadly, a Topshop SALE is not considered an emergency :-/ So yeah.

Starting 1st July 2009 I decided to download this application on my iPod that can help me track my spending.. With this application, I know where all my money goes to.. No more wondering "What the hell did I spend all my money on??". Hahah it helps identify what I spend most of my money on and areas where I can cut back. Also, thanks to that application, I no longer need to keep receipts coz everything will be stored in my iPod. Cool eyy? :-D

So now I present to you Zuliana's July 2009 Financial Analysis:

Chart 1
Based on the chart above, Zuliana's expenses are divided into seven categories. From here, we can see that majority of Zuliana's money goes into personal expenses, followed closely by food. She spends the least amount of money on utility bills and household items. This may be due to the fact that she still lives with her parents, therefore these are covered by them.

Chart 2
From Chart 1, we know that 40.8 per cent of Zuliana's money is spent on Personal items. In Chart 2 we take a closer look into what this consists of. This category is divided into six sub-categories: Accessories, Eyewear, Self Improvement, Clothing, Haircuts and Shoes. For the month of July, shoes dominate a big part of total expenditures. This is probably due to the splurge at Shoes, Shoes, Shoes where she spotted these lovely ivory flats and surrendered to a pair of wooden stacked heels. This sparked an unusual shoe frenzy and led to the purchase of 5 pairs of shoes in July alone. Only 11.3 percent was spent on clothing this month, thanks to Zuliana's generous girlfriends and sister who bought her clothes as gifts. Hope this can continue in the months to come.

Chart 3
After personal items, food dominates up to 31.6 per cent of total spending. This does not come as a surprise, knowing Zuliana's love for dining out. From Chart 3, we can clearly see that Zuliana rarely eats lunch at home and prefers to eat out at her favourite restaurants. The sub-category 'Other' refers to dessert and tea time treats. These are a very important part of her diet and therefore are second highest in the food category. As you can see, not many breakfast dates took place in the month of July, following the absence of her regular brekkie partner who had other matters to attend to overseas.

I predict a major shift in August and September's financial analysis, where less will be spent on lunch and more on clothing. This is of course due to the fasting month in Ramadan and preparations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

(Hahahaha.. Sorry, I'm getting pretty rusty with my formal, academic writing skills and was never good at writing bout financial matters anyways.. :-P)
