Late Nights
So my class on Wednesday nights is only supposed to last until 7:50. Well, last night I finally left the lab at 8:30. I was not happy abpout that. Then, I had to wait for the train for 20 minutes. I didn't get home until 10. I don't think that I'm going to like this class or riding marta. This is making my first couple of weeks a bit crazy and making my not like school all that much. I can handle getting in around 9 thats fine. I have two hours to wind down and get my stuff together for the next day and still get to bed by 11. Thats the lastest I can get to sleep and still get up a 7 in the morning to make it into that lab. I did none of my usual preperations for the next day last night and I didn't get to bed until 12.
The big problem is that I can't get a parking permit right now cause there are none left in the deck and it cost 55 dollars a month. Then with gas prices so high i have to continue riding Marta since i don't make anything. This is turning into a not so great experience.
The good new is that I do like the lab I'm rotating in right now. I've been working with one of the other phd students to develop some protocals it isolate proteins from a candida species. It seems like a good progect and I'm refreshing my lab skills. I had the chance to talk to her and another student and they gave me some good advice about how to work my way through the politics here. I think that since all of us really want to get out as fast as possible, the three of us will be a good support system for each other. All in all, this place has its up and downs as does any place and I just have to adjust to a new environment. More later.
