rq_meme A/N: Okay, so I was KINDA lazy to pick up this prompt, but then I had an epik day of writing yesterday. So I killed two birds with one stone: writing my own fanfic and filling out a prompt. Looks like win/win for me. I guess this is kind of a sequel to
You Say She's Just A Friend but you dont have to read it before, its just cooler if you do =D Anyways the title is from
SoulDecision - Faded and the song in the fic. I hope you enjoy it!
Quinn threw her books into her locker with a huff after third period. The day felt like a drag until she saw Rachel approach her.
"So, I just found out that our bridge project counts for more than 25 percent of our grade this quarter. I suggest we get started on it as soon as possible because I know your knack for procrastination. I really don't want us to jeoporadize our grade because you like to leave it until the last minute," Rachel affirmed as she watched Quinn put away her books.
"Are you always on top of things?" Quinn joked as she decided what books she needed.
"Well, I find it pertinent to our grade, so I always have to be on top." Rachel returned as she crossed her arms.
Even in school, they were able to banter with one another without anyone asking question anymore. Even if they did, Quinn would assume her role as Head Bitch In Charge and eat them alive.
Quinn laughed. "So, just meet at your locker today after school then?" she asked simply. It was always easy to anticipate what Rachel wanted to say. They were great friends. That's all...right? Friends?
"Don't be late, you know how I feel about tardiness," Rachel glowered.
"You can punish me if you want," Quinn wiggled her eyebrows flirtatiously. Rachel just laughed.
"You wish, Fabray," she returned easily with a gentle pat on Quinn's arm. "I don't think you'd be able to handle this."
The singer left without another word but laughed as she threw a smile over her shoulder. Quinn laughed to herself as she shut her locker.
"Alright, you are disgusting," a flash of red blew by and Santana appeared with her signature bitch face. Quinn laughed as she began walking with Santana to Spanish. "You flirt with Berry every single day and you guys are still trying to say that you're just friends?"
"Santana, really, we are just friends," Quinn brushed off. "We don't flirt. We banter."
"Haha, suuure. alright, Rachel banters and you flirt," Santana clarified. Quinn looked down at her feet. Santana noticed this and stood in shock. "Wait! You like that little midget?!" The blonde merely bit her lip as if it were nothing and continued walking, leaving her raven haired friend to chase after her. "You are serious, Q? Why don't you do something about it?"
"We are just friends," Quinn reminded with a smile nonetheless. Even if they couldn't have anything together, being together as friends seemed good enough for her.
"Mm, nah uh. You are Quinn Fabray, you aren't just going to settle. You are going to do something."
"Look, it doesn't bother me, Santana. I like being friends with Rachel. So let's just leave it at that," the blonde finished the conversation as they walked into class. She rolled her eyes at Santana as the girl just glared at her as if she did something wrong.
When lunch time came around, Quinn concluded maybe, just maybe, Santana was right. She sat down with Santana, Brittany, and Puck. Looking across, the cafe, she saw Finn talking to an animated Rachel. She smiled because of how animated Rachel had always been.
"Ew, stop that, put your eyes back in your head Quinn," Santana hissed. Both Brittany and Puck looked confused. It wasn't until they both turned to look at what Santana was referring to before realization hit.
Puck smirked. "Is she yours yet, MILF, or what?"
"Shut it, Puckerman."
"I thought they have been going out," Brittany raised an eye brow in confusion. "Like since the end of summer." All three just stared at Brittany, surprised at her notion. Quinn's jaw dropped. "What? I am being serious. They've been so couply that it's adorable. Like the time, Quinn got her that necklace with the ring on it for Christmas. Well, whatever Rachel celebrates."
"That was a friend thing," Quinn instantly protested. "A girl can give another girl jewelry as friends."
"Wait, how did you know about that?" Puck asked suddenly. "I don't ever remember that!"
"I found Quinn while she was at the mall during Christmas, and just knew," Brittany gave Puck a look as if he was stupid. "Duh."
Quinn flared. "Guys, seriously?"
"What?" Santana began. "I knew my baby had proof you had a thing for Berry." She turned to Puck. "Tell her she needs to do something about her 'friend.' It is nauseating for her to think they are just that."
Puck nodded in agreement. He jerked his thumb in Finn's and Rachel's direction. "Do you want that big guy to take her away or what?" he simply asked. All four of them turned to look at Finn and Rachel. Finn had already progressed to holding Rachel's lunch for her as he offered an arm for her to hang off of. His goofy smile and conversation gave the signal that he was getting ready to ask her out. They walked across the cafe as if it was just them. Finn stopped suddenly and pushed her bangs out of her face while balancing her tray carefully.
Quinn scowled and unconsciously slammed her fist onto the table. The other three managed to hide their smiles at each other as Quinn continued to glare at Finn.
In Glee, Finn continued to advance on Rachel. He would subtly, a skill he finally learned, touch her on the arm as they talked, still pushed her hair aside, or brush against her hand. Their conversation ended as Mr. Schuester walked into the room.
"Are you okay?" Rachel asked as she sat down next to the blonde. She could always sense the anger from Quinn, who had been tapping her feet impatiently and crossed her arms.
"Not really," Quinn curtly responded. But before Rachel could even say anything back, Quinn shot her hand up.
"Is there something you wanted to say, Quinn?" Mr. Schuester stopped in the middle of his thought.
"I have something that I would like to sing," the blonde announced as she stood up and walked towards the band. He didn't say another word and let her have the floor.
She walked up to the front as the music started to pop. Quinn bit her lip and stared directly at Rachel, who looked concerned. In the background, she could see Puck and Santana with mischievous smirks on their faces.
With one deep breathe, she began singing.
When I get you all alone
I'm gonna take off all your clothes
Ain't nobody gonna interrupt my game, oh no
Half of the glee club raised their eyebrows at the lyrics. Quinn didn't care. She even took a second to glare at Finn before directing her attention solely onto Rachel.
Ever since you've been hangin' around
I've been trying to figure out
What I'm gonna say to you to get something, yeah
She pointed at Rachel and pointed back to herself.
Couldn't we do what we did last night again
Baby you and I could be better friends
Don't you think it's time we went a bit further, oh yeah
She gave a wink as she licked her lips carefully. Rachel furrowed her brows in confusion. Was she being serious?
Every night when we say goodbye
how can I help looking in your eyes
Wondering why you and I haven't hit it
Can we get it on
Quinn didn't know if she yelled it enough but she could see Finn giving an even more confused expression than Rachel. As soon as the chorus hit, Quinn instantly bounce in her step. Her focus still remaining on Rachel.
Kind of faded, but I feel alright
Thinkin' about making my move tonight
I can't pretend that you're only my friend when you're holdin' my body tight
Both of them remembered how they always hugged at home or when they were out like it was just the two of them having fun.
'Cause I like the way you're making your move
I like the way you're making me wait
At the end of the night, when I make up your mind
You'll be coming on home with me, yeah, yeah, yeah
She smirked at Rachel and nodded her head. I am serious.
Don't you know you've got it?
And you know I want it
I can't wait to take you home (you know you've got it tonight)
Her desperation and need for Rachel revealed itself in the tone she used. She wasn't going to let anyone else near Rachel.
I don't want to be rude at all
I just want to be where you go
Think what we could do alone? (yeah)
Again, she bit the bottom of her lip. Both of them thinking of the time Rachel straddled her, knowing what could have and would have been if her Daddy hadn't walked by.
Couldn't we do what we did last night again
Baby you and I could be better friends
Don't you think it's time we went a bit further, oh yeah
She started to sound like she was talking to Rachel. The only thing the girl could do was stared in awe as Quinn sang. Rachel was still surprised that Quinn had the guts to even stand up.
Every night when we say goodbye
How can I help lookin' in your eyes
Wondering why you and I haven't hit it
Can we get it on
Quinn finished one more round of the chorus but remained focused on Rachel. She was feeling kind of faded, alright. Everyone in the room stopped cold as the music came to a close. Quinn took a breath out and stared at Rachel.
"So...what do you say?" Quinn asked directly to Rachel, so that no one was confused. The other Gleeks kept their eyes glued on both girls carefully waiting for Rachel's response.
Rachel stood up, her jaw barely able to stay up. She stared at Quinn in disbelief before running off dramatically. Everyone watched in shock as the door shut behind Rachel. A moment of silence passed and Quinn could only think, How did that not work?
"I so won!" Artie yelled out, unable to hold it in anymore. A round of moans followed and everyone stood up, pulling out 10 dollars each and handing it to Artie. "I told you all that Quinn would sing a song!"
"Seriously?" Quinn growled. "You guys are unbelieveable!" She ran out of the room to find Rachel. God, I knew this was a bad idea.
Puck smirked at Santana, "You owe me 20. I told you Rachel was going to dramatically walk out." The Latina only scoffed and handed him his money begrudgingly.
Quinn practically ran through the halls looking for Rachel. It wasn't until she reached the singer's locker that she saw Rachel standing there. Her back against the metal locker, arms crossed, and foot tapping impatiently.
"It took you long enough," Rachel greeted with an angry look on her face. "I was beginning to think you were just going to leave me."
The blonde proceeded cautiously towards Rachel. "You just left and everyone started to pull out their money," Quinn joked with a smile.
Rachel huffed as Quinn stood right before her. Her position remained still as she looked up to the taller blonde.
"So can you tell me why you just ran off?" Quinn asked carefully. She could stand rejection as long as they were still friends.
The brunette looked down slightly and bit her bottom lip, again contemplating her next course of action. Rachel looked back up at Quinn and smiled. The anger was just an act as Quinn realized and smiled back. "Because I know how you usually feel about being professional in class and in front of our peers." Rachel tugged at the hems of the blonde's shirt and pulled her closer. Quinn rested her forearm on the locker next to Rachel's hand and anticipated the next move. "I didn't think you would appreciate it if I did this in front of everyone."
Rachel tiptoed slightly up and brought her lips to Quinn's. For the first time, they had actually kissed, like something more than friends. Quinn's heart soared inside of her and she could tell Rachel's was doing the same. Using her free hand, she slipped it around Rachel's waist and pushed her against the locker. A dull metal clang followed as both of them laughed into the kiss.
"I've been waiting for that for a long time," Rachel revealed as Quinn pressed their foreheads together. "However, I am thoroughly disappointed that you chose a One Hit Wonder to sing to me."
"It conveyed the perfect message," Quinn argued with a message as used the hand around Rachel's waist to hold her hand. She brought it up to her lips. "Wondering why you and I haven't hit it. Can we get it on?"
Rachel let out a loud laugh and slipped out of Quinn's grasped. She ducked under her arm that was still planted against the locker and quickly walked off.
"Come on, Quinn, we have to work on our bridge project," Rachel called back, throwing a smile over her shoulder.
"Stop always being on top of things, Rachel!" Quinn yelled down the hall freely. A smile plastered itself on her face as she chased after Rachel.
"You like it like that!"
