Until I can find which box my journal is currently buried in, there are a few things I don't want to forget:
1. The conversation upon meeting one of our neighbors across the street:
Neighbor as he walks to get his mail): "Hi. I'm Mitch."
Me (waving): "Hi, Mitch. I'm Melissa."
B (on porch): "Hi, Bitch!"
Me (whisperiing urgently): "Sweetie, it's Mitch."
B (waving happily): "Hi, Mitch!"
2. B's PoA fixation.
My daughter loves PoA. She loves Buckbeak and Sirius, and it tickles me tod eath whenever she says she wants to watch it, since it's my favorite thus far. Yesterday, she came downstairs dressed in her Gryffindor costume, wand at the ready, and informed me that I had to call her Hermione for the rest of the day and that she wanted to watch the Harry Potter movie with Sirius in it.
3. My new role.
After watching PoA, B wanted to play Harry Potter. We were in J's room, and we only have sheer white curtains on his windows for now. Being a creative little girl, she said, "Mommy, you be a dementor." Then as I made spooky noises and moved toward her, she hid behind the gauzy white curtains and yelled, "Expecto patronum!" just like Harry did :) Gosh, she makes me proud.
