Oh, I have absolutely zero intent of getting rid of the vet. The first one I took Rat to, said, I kid you not, "your kitten is broken, get another one". No news we didnt see that fucker again.
The place(Cat Clinic Felina) he attends now are really cool about his heart condition and have gone above and beyond, even taking his heart films to some international conference (since his condition is apparently really rare).
I like to do my own research on CatNut, but it drives me insane that the "reliable" sources disagree so much. For example, the cross-seas animal welfare socities tell you to never ever try to make your own feed, since you don't know enough and might give your kitty serious nutritional deficiencies. On the other hand, the Finnish society INSISTS you gotta make your own chow, since the commercial chows are made with the the cheapest ingredients and may be short of proper nutrients, or, indeed, contaminated.
Between all this madness I just try to feed a mixed diet, some commercial, some home made, plus extra vitamins. Figuring it cant *all* be wrong, he should get the nutrients he needs? But then he must stay skinny due to the heart condition, and some vets say a mixed diet will upset their tummies o.0 It's like you just cant win =7
Its awesome you have expertise in your family, can you maybe advise me a cat heart specialist in the Neths? Rat sees the Finnish one now, but seeing we plan on staying, the plane trips are a bother =)
