Classes, Day One

Feb 22, 2010 22:21

So today my sore throat had actually worsened, with swelling to the point that it was affecting my clarity of speech.  I wound up going to the emergency room after my afternoon class (which was pretty short, as a lot of the obstacles for people entering the career center are not affecting me), I went to the emergency room.  Got a speedy diagnosis of "acute pharyngitis" (i.e., sore and inflamed throat caused by an infection), one of the longest shots of my life, consisting of antibiotics which are apparently very thick, and sent on my way with instructions to do whatever I could to improve my comfort, drink as much water as I could handle, and go to a regular practice on Friday if things haven't improved.

Morning class, too, was pretty "nothing."  It's orientation/mobility, and to get a baseline he wants to just follow me around this part of Austin for a half hour or so, see how I cross streets, etc.

This was not happening in 40 degree weather when everyone could tell I was ill.  (they're threatening snow tomorrow, so it'll probably be Wednesday if I'm feeling any better).
