So busy! I went swimming at the St. John's College President's House dock last week, and Sunday I put on my bathing suit and went out on the sidewalk during a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR and laughed a little on the inside at all the poor tourists who got caught in it. It wasn't all schadenfreude, though- I sheltered some people in our doorway (btw, our door mysteriously came off its hinges in the wee hours of the morning, but it's fixed now) and led them to the relative safety of Buddy's Ribs with the help of two umbrellas from the house, which I then returned to their places.
I also spent time Sunday learning Swahili and doing dishes. I did a lot of dishes. So I'm taking a one or two-day break from dishes, which is one of the things I love about this apartment- if I do and put away 6 sinkloads of dishes on Sunday, and make a minimal cooking mess Monday and Tuesday, I don't have to do dishes on Monday and Tuesday. Someone else will wash my 2 plates and a glass those days. It's communism or something, but whatever it is, it's working so far.
Today I wrote 6 emails, made 6... no, I just remembered that I called Rachel, change that to 7 phone calls (although actually I spoke on the phone to 8 people, as one of them called me), and created 8 business cards, which involved both designing them and cutting them out by hand. Ah, home printing. Then I went grocery shopping and watched Desperate Housewives by accident for three episodes.
Tomorrow I have to make more calls, send more e-mails, bake cookies, meet up with Josh (for fun, though we'll probably talk about 2Seeds stuff too), and go to a potluck (hence the cookie-baking.) Also, I have to sort out my bus route for Wednesday's trip to the travel clinic. I'm getting at least four shots, by my reckoning. :(
