Sail picnic today was fabulous, I was on a boat with 5 seniors and the people who owned the boat had brought their granddaughter along for the ride. I spent most of the ride hanging out with the granddaughter, who is very bright and fun to talk to- I think she was late elementary-school age, but she was two grades ahead so she was starting middle school classes or something. She likes bugs and wants to be a vet, same as her 15-year-old brother. It was sort of funny because we were basically just sharing stories back and forth, and that sort of thing is such a great way to make friends and I feel like I don't do it nearly enough. Or maybe I just don't meet (/actually talk to) new people that often.
We had this running joke about the dangers of stairs and also how the crabs she was trying to catch with the barbecued chicken would eat her shoe if she fell overboard, since she had accidentally dropped her chicken and it hit her shoe, leaving a stain, before landing on the boat. Then on the way back, we sat on the edge of the boat and stuck our legs out to try and catch waves breaking against our feet. Soooo while I may not be the best person to trust with your stove, I guess I'm pretty good at having fun with kids.
The rest of my day was pretty anticlimactic after that, but before dinner
ethelflaed, Sandra, Daniel and I all watched The Enterprise Incident, which is probably my favorite third season Star Trek episode. And I read some Liebniz and watched season two of Castle, or anyway what there is of it so far.
