dancing queen

I am eating ice cream that makes me imagine some sort of conversation between its creators, a conversation that goes, in essence, like this:

Ice Cream Creator #1: Hm, this quart of vanilla ice cream is good, but it needs something more.
Ice Cream Creator #2: Like what?
Ice Cream Creator #1: A ENTIRE BOTTLE OF VANILLA EXTRACT! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ice Cream Creator #2: YES, MASTER, THAT IS A BRILLIANT PLAN! I SHALL ADD IT AT ONCE!
(Mad) Ice Cream Creators #1 and #2: *insane laughter*

Yeah.

Last night was amazing, except for the bit where Michael's car's brakes started dying, but we got home alright. The gelato at the gelato place was fabulous- I only tried the fruity flavors, but they were really really good, especially the citrusy ones.

And I really enjoyed dancing at the Lindy and Blues dance in Philadelphia this time around. It was my second time there, and so I felt more confident about Lindy Hop. I still freaked out a little inside when I was maneuvered into Blues dancing, but I remembered that Blues position is awkward, so that helped. And by the end of the evening I actually liked the way that everyone there switched between dance styles during one song. It made it really interesting, and more challenging because I had to actually pay attention to whether they were East-Coast swinging, doing the Lindy Hop, doing Blues, or something completely random.

A bunch of people asked me to dance, I think because I got in the out-of-towner's circle and so they saw "ah, here is a new face!", although I got in the out-of-towner's circle last time I was there and I definitely had more people ask me this time around. Maybe it was because there were less people in the circle this time. I was charged either to dance with 6 people other than the ones I came with, or to ask 6 people I didn't come with to dance- it wasn't quite clear. Since I fulfilled the first one pretty quickly, I decided to try for the second, and did manage to ask 6 people to dance. :) The first guy I asked was pretty cute and he knew a lot of fun East-coast moves. (His dancing style was kind of like Jake Simon's, actually, come to think of it.) And once I'd broken the asking-people-ice it was easier to ask the next person.

I got a start on unpacking and cleaning my room yesterday because I had to find a good swinging outfit, and now that I'm pretty sure I've unpacked everything (I found my dangly earrings at the very last minute and thus did not have a chance to wear them to the dance, alas) I should continue. Bleeeeeh. There's just no space in my room to put things, is the problem.

I woke up at 2:15 pm today, and my sleep schedule is going to be out of whack for forever now. :(

life, dancing
