The Odyssey (or America The Beautiful as defiled by Kelly.)
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
An essay I must write
Because, you know, I've got to show
my work upon daylight.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
Please help me pen this thing
And then, I swear, I'll leave your hair
To this small hope I cling!
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
I really liked the book
But now I've got to write a lot
Or else I'm on the hook.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
A tale of many themes
But which to pick? I'm feeling sick
This is beyond my means.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
I might just manage 'love'-
Though pause a bit, 'revenge' could fit
Posideon like a glove.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
It clearly deals with 'fate',
'Cause Odysseus, he missed the bus
And his fam'ly had to wait.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
I think 'pride''s in there too!
Since every guest is treated best
With kindness, it is true.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
Puts value on the home
A traveler can be assured
Proud hosts will blankets loan!
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
I guess I'll go with 'pride'
Though heaven knows, I'll have to show
Just how it spurs each side.
The Odyssey, The Odyssey
I feel my choice is made
So off I run, this song is done
(Why won't the music fade?!)
I was going to do this for all of America the Beautiful, but there are
far too many verses. I don't have that kind of time. Or work ethic. Hence the song.
