More to less to more

Weekend! But not with parents and sisters and cats this time, which is sad. Also sad: the weather this week. Brr. Summer, or even spring, can come  back any time now.

Friends and I saw How to Train Your Dragon last night. It was really good! When the poster came out a few months ago, I had very low expectations from the total cliché of the character looks, but this was an example of those archetypes done well, and differently without boasting it. I loved the story and the characters, and the animation (except for the humans) was gorgeous; there were several shots where it was indistinguisable from a live set. We didn't even see it in 3D due to timing, but I want to go again because the flying is supposed to be spectacular.

All of that aside, my love was sealed by the DRAGONS, because aside from my existing love for said species, they clearly modeled them on CATS OMG for the taming/endearing aspects. And the main one looks like one of my family's cats. I am easy. I want one.

My one quibble: no way that monster dragon would ever be able to fly with those wings at his size. Becuse this was clearly the only unrealistic aspect of the film.

It very much deserves its 98% rating on RT, and I would recommend it for your weekend.

In less awesome, I'm getting the car window fixed today. It'll come to maybe five bucks over my deductible, so...meh. Turns out nothing was stolen from my neighbor's car. My working theory is that it was someone trying to get out of the weather and that's why they went for the crappiest car in the row (neighbor's), and mine was collateral damage.

In more awesome, baseball!

car, movies
