It's fully summer movie season now, which means lots of options on weekends. I should probably save more for the Fourth of July weekend when that's pretty much all I'm going to do...

I really liked Man of Steel. It's very....old-fashioned, I guess, I think that's the best word for it, but I really enjoyed it. I struggle with the Marvel movies a lot (Thor is the only one of those I can honestly say I really, really liked) because I can never take the stakes seriously - I'm never invested in them. I really like the Nolan Batmans (the movies that taught me that it was possible for me to enjoy a comic book movie!) but I know some people struggle with the soul-sucking darkness of them. I thought this was a good sort of in-between territory - I took it seriously enough to feel very invested in the outcome, but it wasn't depressing or anything ( ... )

AGREED re:spoiler. Good on them for building that into this reboot as a feature.

I think it was the perfectly coiffed hair that was the icing on the Super Cavill cake. It was very Ken doll without actually appearing to be plastic.
