Obsessively updating my ipod with at least 26 Alan Lomax cds.
Long story short: On my birthday every year(early April) I go to NYC, stay at my fav hotel , and see old friends and check out some shows.
One year(2001?), my friend Don Flemming was working in/at the Lomax archives(3 floors Filled with rooms filled with tapes and wire reels in a GIANT uptown building) transferring, remastering, and preserving the recordings. He took Ron and I out for lunch at a German place where I ate too many potato pancakes, and then set us loose in the archives. Talk about WOW. Then he said, "Hey you didn't see this room." It was the room filled with cds of the transferred remastered recordings. Then he said, "Hey it's your birthday. You need presents!" I just happened to have a backpack. Thanks Don!
Later that night we all went to Tonic to see Thurston play a show. Afterward we had cake at T's place where I drank Kim's mom's homemade wine(THERE! IT WAS ME! I DID IT. BAD BAD ME! JIMBO MADE ME DO IT!)I passed out on the dining room table fearing the appearance of C.Love(I'm gullible and I was drunk and being teased ok!), and then Stefano took a bunch of incriminating photos of me that I never want to see.
